There is absolutely nothing wrong with him.
Leviticus knows this well. Has tumbled the thought around in his chest like a rock smoothed by the tide. It has turned into his bedtime story. He has accepted the fact that there has been nothing wrong with him since this thing has made a home within his ribcage. Since this many limbed beetle has skittered through the undergrowth of his spine, crawling and digging and poking everywhere it shouldn’t. Yet he finds himself curled up on the bathroom floor wishing something was. Wrong. Wishing something was worse. Wishing he was worse. Wishing the shadows of his bedroom could come to life and swallow the concept of him whole mouthed and drooling. Yet he hopes the beast of it is kind enough to leave him enough of a home within it’s belly. Away from everything here that he can’t handle, because that’s one of the only things wrong with him.
Leviticus is tender and weak. His skin gives in easy at the blade edge of midnight. He doesn’t sleep. He doesn’t eat. He doesn’t talk. He doesn’t do much because he can’t do much. But he knows he can, if he really wants to.
Leviticus watches bright red trail from his forearm and drip a painting onto the bathroom tiles and feels a sense of completion. Bulbous spheres blink up at him owlishly like he’s just opened up the sky and plucked the stars from them, only to bring them down here and set everything on fire. Leaving nothing left except him and the clothes on his body. Always too selfish. So deep into his own self-wallowing that he won’t process anything else. When he turns his wrist to the side the gap is at least two centimeters.
There’s nothing left for him here but a one way street. The wind whispers into his ears and tousles his hair, telling him there’s no coming back. Telling him this is it. This is finality. This feels like finality. This is finality because this is all there is to him. It’s midnight and it’s so dark and it’s so quiet and he fills the space too much. It’s midnight it’s dark it fills the space too much. It fills him whole and keeps him warm and it’s all he ever was and all he ever is and all everything is and it is everything he could ever ask for. And he can’t stand it.
