⚠️ [SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2 OF BEASTARS AHEAD]

Beastars is about Legoshi struggling with his identity, his blood, growing up thinking that this part of him is a monster because thats what he was brought up to think.

beastars is just one huge analogy about a closeted gay boy trying to accept himself for who he is. At the beggining of the manga, Paru Itagaki (the author) says "This is an animal manga about human drama", which is just her yelling out that her series isn't to be taken literally. which is also the beautiful thing about beastars. it doesnt NECESSARILY have to be about being gay. it can be about what its like growing up trans, growing up as a minority, anything.

I love beastars. It's so corny but in a way that has you reacting so viscerally to everything and I think that already is an achievement by everyone on the beastars team.

it's very heavy on the "To deny your instincts is to deny yourself" trope, and everybody knows how much I love that trope, because of how much it reminds me of vampirism. Yes, I think that beastars might have been less shamed on if it were a vampire anime instead of an anthropomorphic animal anime. I hate how its constantly shamed for what it is, which is an anime that will thrive if its plot revolved around animals and the society they've set up. Does that mean I hate the anime? No. Not even close.

It's like... yeah... learn to live around your instincts. It's about learning to live with who you are, your identity, and Legoshi has been running from that for so long and the claws of who he is have finally caught up to him and this is him dealing with that.

In season 1 legoshi thinks he is morally wrong for wanting to succumb to something he can't help. Legoshi is trying to suppress a side of him he knows is there and he knows is a fundamental part of who he is and it doesnt backfire it doesnt succeed. He just in a way realizes that this isn't who he is through season 2 which leads me to my next point. Riz's story was so good. I love Riz's story arc. It's nothing special but for some reason I love the subtext of it. I love the awareness it gives Legoshi, and how it slowly revealed that Riz was the one who killed Tem. How it strung me along and really walked me through it. How riz didnt kill tem out of hatred, but love.

Idk maybe I'm biased, but I truly do not care. Stone me. It reminds me of trying to live around my own self, my own identity. Tiptoeing around the topic because i knew that if i went any further, I wouldn't be able to go back. This is similar to how Legoshi knows once he tastes real animal meat, feels the hot nectar of blood rush down his throat, he'll never be able to go back. Even if there's a very small voice in the back of his ribcage that knows. And that is so scary when you, the person, know what's happening to you yet you deny it so much because that little voice is telling you its wrong.

I like beastars. I do, and its quickly become my favorite, but that isn't me saying it's a good anime. I think the plot is a bit of a mess....??? in a way???? The anime definitely felt a bit rushed, which i dont blame the author for since they had to squeeze so many volumes into just 12 episodes. And the characters do feel a bit... blank. Like there's not much else to them. Like, I love Jack. Why? He's cute. He's funny. He's happy. But what else? It's a bit hard for the cast to feel real when some of them are very 2d. What's interesting to me is the concept, and what the series sets up.

⚠️ [SPOILERS FOR BATMAN #424 DIPLOMATS SON & MENTIONS OF RAPE AHEAD!]

i will start with the obvious and say Jason Todd is right and that he has a point. he IS batmans greatest failure, because batman failed him.

i love jason. but i hate how dumbed down hes become in recent times since the popularity spike of wayne family adventures in 2021 since new fans (including myself) needed to compartmentalize certain characters into their own niches. like how being league trained is damians thing, and being smart and sleep deprived is tims thing. so being a dumb sexy gun wielding crime lord had to become jasons thing, and most new fans couldnt even really fathom that jason was league trained too, or the fact that he takes WEEKS to plan things out and even MORE TIME to really bring said plans into action. hes street smart AND book smart. he has the best grades. he took years to even go through with going after batman, and even then he DIDNT SEE HIS PLAN THROUGH.

and you dont get a better walkking metaphor for victims than jason todd. this fifteen year old, this child, this boy, has to crawl his way out of his grave with the lasting wounds of his last BRUTAL encounter with the joker. feeling alone and scared and abandoned and cold and so very lost. so imagine looking for the man who took you in only to learn that he didn't even go after the guy who killed you. he's still up and running and making more victims like HIM. and batmans trying to prevent it but he wont end it, not really. because he can't kill the joker. and he never will.

and you can say jason is angry, maybe a bit too angry. but you cant say hes a bad person for it. really its just another reminder than he will not rest easy. he will not forget. you cant save everyone. his anger is justified. even before he died his anger makes sense. he directly and aggressively questioned batmans morals while standing up to the injustice he witnessed first hand as robin re:diplomats son where its STILL TO THIS DAY unknown as to whether ot not he really pushed that man off the balcony (basically in diplomats son there was this guy who raped a woman and jason and batman had to find solid reasoning to bring him to the police since they didnt have enoguh evidence the first time iirc. so they busted him for doing coke and right before he was going to be brought back to his country he called up the girl he raped and said "im coming back". jason and batman returned to find said girl hanging from her ceiling. dead)(can i also say its so tuff of jason to say "guess i spooked him" in response to batman asking whether or not he pushed him off)

he sees what crime is doing to gotham, he sees the damage its causing and how bruce is trying to fix it in the most pacifistic way possible, and decides nah we cant have that. so then the events of under the red hood happen.

if the roles were reversed jason would have torn the layers of the earth apart going after the joker. and the moral of the story or rather the question is: are you allowed to mourn the loss of jason todd while allowing more victims like him to be made? is it selfish to let the joker go? at the end of the day we know jason was onto something. so people in 1988 decided to call a landline and killed him off. which, despite how it destroyed me, also made me appreciate his character even MORE. jason dying wasn't really necessary, but it gives us a first hand witness to the brutality caused by crime having gone unpunished for so long.

i think his story wrapped up in a nice bow with his story with tyler, and him learning that death is a horrible thing, and he doesnt want it to ripple out into others. thats the thing about jason; despite all ive said about jason being quite unforgiving, he is one of the more understanding characters of all. he is one of the kindest. when he was dying in that warehouse, injuries and all, he turned to his MOTHER and wrapped her in a hug. his MOTHER who betrayed him. jason is incredibly endearing and beloved by fans everywhere because of his aggressive tendencies. people love how he is at war with his aggressive tendencies, and how he's always TRYING to get past those. at the same time, many viewers find him endearing because of jasons rejection of help. its pretty common to hear the phrase "you cant keep pouring from an empty cup" when talking about someone who is rejecting help they clearly need, and i think a lot of people can find comfort and relatability in jasons constant war with himself. his struggles, his past, his rejection for help.

jason has a point, but it is beautiful how despite all that, he learns what it means to be a symbol of hope.

whos excited for absolute robin?

⚠️ [SPOILERS FOR ABSOLUTE POWER#1-4 AHEAD]

absolute power 1-3 was cool. loved seeing everyone band together in what almost seems like a crisis event. there was awesome nightwing action. i saw conner. it was good. but,,, lets talk about the ending

the twist of oliver being a rat was okay. im not gonna say i didnt see it coming, but i kinda saw it coming. the ending felt a tad bit rushed. it almost felt like a "power of friendship" thing, which isnt exact bad but its just not exactly my style??

i wish they spent more time on it. like, idk, i wish they could have taken their time with it to go more in depth instead of squishing it into a single volume.

ultimately tho, im not mad. i had a fun time reading, and we got superboy prime out of it, so i cant complain

LEVITICUS.TXT
Leviticus was really sad and what makes me even sadder is that there are so many people in this world who can relate to it. so lets talk about what leviticus is about

leviticus is about three queer youth growing up in an evironment that basically reprimands the very core of them at every moment. the hate is a constant. and its so insnaely iconic how naim's mother tells naim that what hes suffering with (the monster) is born out of a certain kind of hate. motherfucker YOU ARE THE HATE. jesus is not in the silence please dont say you love the silence and found jesus in it because youre just saying you want your son to shut up. okay? okay. i hate naims mom.

sorry i got side tracked. leviticus is about what growing up in a harmful environment does and how it manifests self hatred and shame and how it can be used against you and and and how . you may be asking, oh bluebell, youre so funny and attractive, but why is it about queer youth and not two queer boys? well. thats easy. its because there are MULTIPLE queer characters throughout the film!!

the opening scene of leviticus starts (my laptop is dying i will continue this tomorrow)

DONTLETTHEFORESTIN.TXT
im so angry. im so sad. they were so in love. it could have been different. there was no other option. they had each other and in the beginning it was the most mercy god ever had on their ruined souls but it turned into their undoing. every 5 pages i was screaming JUST KISS ALREADY but when they finally did all i felt was fear.

one day youll cut me open and find a garden of rot where my heart should be. i knew Dove was suspicious and toyed with the concept of HER being behind this all along, but i didnt realize the author would not only read my mind, but twist it into something. so much. worse. thats why when andrew told thomas to "go be with dove then" thomas seemed so... so offended. because dove wasnt here. i should have seen it coming. the way she magically disappeared when any of the important characters showed up, the way the only other people she would be with other than andrew were unimportant nameless groups of people. she was never here with him. this is why she left the car so fast in the beginning. i. should have. seen it.

i was so scared. ive never held my breath for so long. this book was so good and ill reread it until the day i die. cg drews you will pay for what you have done to my mental health
